Hoover UH50000 TurboPower WindTunnel Anniversary-Edition Self-Propelled Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner with Pet-Hair Tool
Equipped with patented WindTunnel technology, this bagged upright vacuum delivers powerful, deep-down cleaning performance. The self-propelled unit offers nearly effortless maneuverability in both forward and reverse, while three distinct air channels lift and trap dirt, keeping it from scattering back into the carpet, so dirt ends up in the cleaner not on the floor. The unit also traps 99.97-percent of dust and pollens down to 5 microns in size thanks to its allergen filter bag. Even more, it provides a deluxe stretch hose, a complete on-board tool set for above-floor cleaning, and a pet-hair tool with rotating brushes that effectively removes stubborn pet hair and dirt from upholstery and carpeted stairs. after reading many reviews from many different sources we decided to purchase this vacuum. we ended up getting it from costco as it was quite a bit cheaper than on amazon at the time. i have to say that we’ve been thrilled with this vacuum so far. it does a wonderful job on our carpet leaving no trace of dog hair behind. the dirt sensor is a fun addition although i’m not completely sure what it’s thinking sometimes. the self-propel feature is great and works effortlessly with normal vauuming gestures gliding the vacuum along the floor with ease.
we were looking at some dyson vacuums as well but after going to the store and test driving both models the dyson vacuums, although great to look at, seemed heavy and awkward to use most of the time. the hoovers seemed to have a good vacuum feel to them.
the set of attachments is also nice and are very easy to use.

I bought this as my wife wanted to have a machine that has the power of the bagless, without the messy transfer into the garbage. We have had two bagless vacuums, and overall they have turned out to be very nice machines, however, we have dogs and kids, and transferring pet hair and dirt into the trash was/is a daunting and disgusting task. My wife wanted something that she could easily operate, that was powerful, and had the ability to self-propel when she wanted it.
We picked this machine on blind faith, as there was little information on this at the time. It has turned out to be a great purchase. The joystick like nature of the self-propel takes a minute or two to get used to, but it is actually nice and responsive to the speed you are pushing it. My kids even want to help using this vacuum, because it is slightly like playing a video game.
Here are the two negatives. One against Amazon, one against the product…
1. The vacuum is a little heavy compared to other vacuums, but it isn’t the heaviest vacuum we have owned. Far from it. All self-propelled vacuums are a little heavier because of the extra equipment.
2. Amazon sent us an opened box machine. We realized it halfway into getting it ready. The cords were put back together with garbage twist ties, and the bags it comes with were loose at the bottom of the box. That surprised us as we have purchased many things from Amazon with no issue (TV, small appliances, etc). We tried it out and have had no issues, but I personally don’t feel we should have paid full price on a vacuum that was open. We didn’t have the time to return it for another. This is my concern as to the long-term effects of purchasing an open box.

I thoroughly enjoy this vacuum. I had an Oreck and that was expensive and didn’t have tools. I don’t think the Oreck is worth it. I got this Hoover because my mom loves the self-propell and I have thick shaggy carpet in areas which made it hard to push the Oreck around without getting worn- out. I love the hoover I would even give it 5 stars except that it is heavy. I use the tools all the time and I have to manipulate this big heavy machine which is cumbersome but I have to say it is worth it to easily swith from vacuuming to tools and back. It makes the more expensive Oreck seem worthless. My hoover is a great vacuum but hard to carry upstairs. Get a lightweight hoover with tools and no self-propell if you think you want a great lighter vacuum. Must have tools. Never again the Oreck.
